Philadelphia Zoning Basics and Beyond - September 26, 2011

Please join us for the final Philadelphia Community Outreach Session. This final session will be essential for attorneys who are interested in learning about the latest development in the new zoning code anticipated to be adopted imminently by Philadelphia's City Council. The registration fee for this session is $15 for minority bar association members.

This is a Basic Course Designed for:

  • The New Practitioner who would like to practice real estate law but desires preparation beyond that provided in a typical law school curriculum
  • The General Practitioner who would like to learn the nuts and bolts of real estate law
  • The Long-Time Specialist who has specialized in another area but would like to transition into real estate practice.

Accreditation has been requested for this program in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York for 9.0 hours of substantive law, practice and procedure CLE credit and 1.5 hours of ethics, professionalism or substance abuse CLE credit. Certificates of Attendance will be available at the conclusion of each individual session for attendees and speakers.

Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) Fall Garden Festival - featuring the PHS Young Friends Biergarten

Gardeners of all ages, interests, and levels will find something to inspire them at the PHS Fall Garden Festival.    Held at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, this FREE event features great shopping, food, harvest displays, gardening workshops, horticultural information, and entertainment.

Modern-Day Slavery: Human Trafficking and Bonded Labor - October 3, 2011

The South Asian Bar Association of Delaware (SABA-DE) is co-hosting a presentation on October 3, 2011, at the Widener University School of Law in Wilmington, DE, entitled Modern Day Slavery: Human Trafficking and Bonded Labor.  The speaker, Saju Mathew, Director of Operations, South Asia, International Justice Mission, has been featured on the CNN Freedom Project.

Reception begins at 5:30 p.m.  Program begins at 6:30 p.m. with Welcoming Remarks by Linda L. Ammons, Dean of Law School.

The Twelfth Annual Diversity Recruitment Reception will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Raymond Harley Training Room, Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, Three South Penn Square, Philadelphia, PA 19107-3499.

Current and former prosecutors from the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, and the United States Attorney’s Office will gather together to meet recent law school graduates and law students who are interested in employment as a prosecutor.

If you are interested in employment as a prosecutor, please bring two copies of your resume – one for impromptu interviews and one to ensure that the reception committee has a copy.   Feel free to extend this invitation to anyone who is interested in learning the truth about being a minority prosecutor.
